Privacy Policy

This policy covers the UnBlah apps for iOS and Android, which work the same way and use the same backend, and this website.

UnBlah turns recipe links into clean recipes on your device. Recipes are processed and stored on your device. Signing in is optional: if you sign in, your recipes are also backed up to our cloud service so you can restore them. UnBlah has no advertising, no analytics, no third-party trackers, and no crash-reporting services. We do not sell or share your personal information.

Who We Are

UnBlah is operated by JOEL CALDWELL, AUSTRALIA ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at support@unblah.app.

Recipe Import

When you provide a recipe URL, your device connects directly to that website to retrieve the webpage and, where available, its recipe image. The website may receive standard network information such as your IP address and handles that information under its own privacy policy. Recipe parsing happens entirely on your device. We do not receive the URL, the webpage contents, or the extracted recipe as part of this process.

Accounts and Sign-In

Signing in is optional and is only needed for cloud backup and restore. UnBlah offers Sign in with Google. When you sign in we receive and store your email address and an account identifier. We use them only to authenticate you and to associate your backups with your account. We never see or store your password.

Cloud Backup

While you are signed in, UnBlah backs up your recipes automatically. The backup contains your recipe content (such as title, ingredients, steps, timings, servings, and notes), the source URL the recipe came from, creation and update timestamps, and any image saved with the recipe.

Backups are stored on our cloud infrastructure and are accessible only to your signed-in account. When you delete a recipe while signed in, its backup copy and image are deleted too. While you are signed out, no recipe data leaves your device.

Photos

If you choose a photo for a recipe, UnBlah accesses only the photo you select and stores a copy on your device. That copy is uploaded as part of your recipe backup only while you are signed in.

What We Do Not Collect

UnBlah does not use advertising, analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting services. It does not track you across other apps or websites, does not collect your contacts, location, or device advertising identifiers, and does not sell or share personal information for advertising.

This Website

This website uses no cookies, analytics, advertising, or third-party trackers, and loads no fonts, scripts, or other content from third-party servers. Our hosting provider automatically records standard server log information, such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, in order to serve the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use that information to identify you.

Why We Process Your Information

We process the information described above to provide the app and, if you sign in, to back up and restore your recipes. Where data protection law requires a legal basis, ours are the performance of our agreement with you for providing those features, and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and preventing abuse. We process information to comply with the law where we are required to.

Service Providers

We use third-party cloud infrastructure providers to host accounts and backups, and a hosting provider for this website. They process this data only on our instructions and are contractually required to protect it to the same standard described in this policy. We do not disclose your data to any other third party except where required by law.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Recipe backups and images are stored on servers in Australia. The account information used to sign you in may be processed by our providers in other countries, including the United States. Wherever your information is processed, our providers are bound by contractual terms requiring them to protect it and to process it only on our instructions.

Data Retention and Deletion

Data on your device is retained until you delete individual content, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.

Backed-up data is retained until you delete it. Deleting a recipe in the app while signed in also deletes its backup. Signing out does not delete your backups.

To delete your account and all associated backups, email support@unblah.app from the email address you signed in with. We will delete your account, recipe backups, and stored images within 30 days of verifying your request.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to receive a copy of it, and to restrict or object to how we use it.

You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app: your recipes are visible and editable at any time, deleting a recipe also deletes its backup, and you can request full account deletion as described above. For anything else, email support@unblah.app and we will respond within 30 days.

We do not sell or share your personal information, and we will never treat you differently for exercising any of these rights. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Data Security

Data sent between the app and our service is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Backed-up recipes and images are held in access-controlled cloud storage, and every request is authenticated so that recipes can only be read or changed by the account that owns them. Data stored on your device is protected by your device and operating system.

Children

UnBlah is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
